Contemporary education in international perspective Abstract The thesis addresses the topic of contemporary education in European countries with a focus on tertiary education. The first part is devoted to a general overview of education in Europe, the International Classification of Education ISCED, organizations dealing with education and their activities in the form of programs, collection of internationally comparable data or publications. It includes a description of education policies in European countries and a description of education systems in selected countries. The second part analyses data for 2020 provided by the OECD on tertiary graduates, which are considered in terms of international classifications, age or gender. A cluster analysis of bachelor and master graduates, divided by gender, is carried out in order to identify the presence of regions with similar characteristics and to further analyse them to show different trends depending on the gender of the graduates, level or fields of study. Analysis of the academic performance of pupils with immigrant background in selected European countries

The aim of the thesis is to quantitatively assess the position of pupils of foreign origin in schools. This is analysed through the magnitude of the differences in learning outcomes between immigrant pupils and native pupils in eight different education systems. The main aim is to capture the heterogeneity between the selected countries, which were chosen because of differences in integration strategies, the amount of funding directed to education and the organisation of education systems. For the purpose of the analysis, the international database of the PISA survey was used with 49 687 respondents. The effect of foreign origin is analysed together with other determinants in order to reveal its relevance in explaining students' performance in school. The author is not aware of any differences in the academic performance of immigrant pupils and native-born pupils have been captured in other similar comparative research. Based on the literature, the factors were grouped into three levels - pupil, school and country levels. For this purpose, a multilevel linear model is used, which is able to purge the effect of school level from the role of individual characteristics. Comparison of chosen Czech and German secondary school history textbooks focusing on the expulsion of German population after World War II and its didactic concept

This thesis deals with a comparison of selected Czech and German secondary school history textbooks with a focus on the topic of the expulsion of the German population after World War II. The theoretical part is devoted to the characteristics of the school systems of both countries (in the case of the Federal Republic of Germany using the example of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia), the subject of history in Czech and German curricular documents and content in the selected textbooks. In the next chapter, the textbooks are analysed from the point of view of the presentation of the content in verbal and illustrative form, as well as from the point of view of the apparatus of orientation and management of the acquisition of the subject matter. This is followed by a chapter on the historical background of Czech-German relations. The analytical part of the thesis includes the content and understanding of the topic in Czech and German textbooks, an analysis of the working parts of the textbooks and a questionnaire survey. Working with School Curriculum and Teaching Geography in Secondary Schools (Lower Secondary Education)

The year 2007 marked the transition to a two-level system of educational documents for Czech education, which many described as a revolution. To this day, however, it is evident that for many schools and teachers this change took place only on paper, which also negatively affects the teaching of geography. This work provides an insight into the topics of working with school curriculum and teaching geography from the point of view of lower secondary education geography teachers. The theoretical part is devoted to the history and current system of Czech educational documents. The theory of geography teaching is also outlined. In the practical part, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 21 geography teachers, which made it possible to deepen the understanding of teaching geography and working with school curriculum. Due to the small number of interviewed teachers, the results cannot be considered representative, despite this, the work confirmed the formality of school curricula to a certain level. In many cases, the work of teachers and schools with school curriculum remains very shallow. The character of geography teaching contains significant differences among the teachers, the Czech educational system is highly differentiated. The research also pointed out the weak positions of human geography and fieldwork in the geography education at lower secondary education. The semi-structured interviews contained a total of 18 segments, 9 on working with school curriculum and 9 on selected aspects of geography teaching.
The Use of Promotion as a Tool of Marketing Mix in the Selected Organization of Education Systém

The diploma thesis deals with the promotional activities of a selected subject of the educational system. The Secondary Polytechnic School in České Budějovice has been selected for this purpose. The aim of the diploma thesis is to reveal and evaluate the use and importance of promotion as a tool of marketing mix for a selected subject of the educational system. Based on the information obtained to propose a more appropriate use of promotion tools and determine measures leading to further development of the promotion of the selected organization. The first part of this work, literary research, includes mainly the promotional mix problematics. The practical part includes several parts. At the beginning of the practical part, the current promotional mix of the organization is presented. The following are the results of a supplementary questionnaire survey and evaluation of hypotheses using statistical evaluation of data. An important part of the work are recommendations designed to optimize promotion and promotional activities.

The topic of the diploma thesis is the image of the teaching assistant profession in the system of inclusive education in the Czech Republic, focusing on selected issues, overview according to available literature, surveys, etc. In the empirical part . As a result, a comprehensive picture of the teaching assistant profession will emerge at the end, which will have the ambition to serve, among other things, as a manual for the profession, able to provide a comprehensive idea and concrete answers regarding the work of a teaching assistant. The teaching assistant is currently undoubtedly an integral part of teaching. The aim of the work will be to bring a comprehensive overview of the profession to all possible future assistants, students, parents and each of the lay public with an interest in education and schooling as a whole.

This bachelor thesis is focused on the comparison of the teaching of industrial geography at the lower secondary level in the Czech Republic and England. The theoretical part provides an overview of educational systems and educational documents of the Czech Republic and England with emphasis on the role of geography at lower secondary education. It also outlines a basic theoretical overview of the geography of industry and new trends in this topic, which are addressed by a research of literature. The practical part is focused on the analysis of 6 geography textbooks for lower secondary education by using two partial analyzes. The first analysis observes didactic equipment of textbooks. The second analysis is the content analysis split into the analysis of thematic units of industrial geography and the analysis of concepts from the field of new trends in industrial geography.
